new column

Though I'm still the midlife mama here, my column over at Literary Mama has changed. Now it's the Children's Lit Book Group, and the first one is up. Let me know what you think! And check out all the new columns--there's some great stuff over there.

I love the kids' lit column, great idea! Your discovery of The Thief Lord through Mariah reminds me of my first experience of A Wrinkle in Time. I was 38 years old! reading it to Sam. I was so angry; the book was magical, beautiful, soul-feeding -- and it had been published in 1963 -- GAH! who hid it from me? Why didn't I know????

I look forward to your column, look forward to learning about all the books I wish I had read, if I had only known . . .

So, Linda, have you gone on to read the rest of the L'Engle books? I loved that whole trilogy--in fact, I'm hoping to write about them as well. Thanks for your comments!

What a great idea! I'm also looking forward to future columns. My children are very, very young, and once we move beyond the Sandra Boynton ouevre I'll be seeking guidance on books for them. One my top-ten parenting goals is to raise kids who love to read. I'm hoping my love of reading is at least somewhat infectious...
